Free vs. Paid Payment Plans

NeetoPay allows you to create versatile payment plans, giving you the option to offer your services either for free or at a specified price.

What's the Difference?

  • Free Plans:

    • Designed for offerings that do not require any payment from the subscriber.

    • Subscribers can sign up without providing payment details.

    • The subscription becomes active immediately upon completion of the signup form (if one is configured).

    • Cannot have a base price or a setup fee.

  • Paid Plans:

    • Require subscribers to make payments.

    • You define a base price and currency for the plan.

    • Can include one-time payment options, installment-based payment options, or both.

    • Can optionally include a one-time setup fee (see "Understanding Setup Fees" below).

    • Subscribers will go through a payment process, typically via Stripe, after filling out the signup form.

How to Configure

When creating or editing a Payment Plan in NeetoPay:

  1. Navigate to the "Pricing" section of the Payment Plan builder.

  2. You'll find a "Pricing Type" option with two choices:

    • Free: Select this if the plan does not involve any charges.

      • NeetoPay will automatically configure a single "Free" payment option for this plan.

      • Any settings related to base price, currency, setup fees, or other paid payment options (like one-time or installment) will be disabled or ignored.

    • Paid: Select this if the plan requires payment.

      • You must specify a base amount and currency for the plan.

      • You must configure at least one payment option (e.g., "One-time payment" or "Installment based payment").

      • You can optionally enable and configure a Setup Fee.

      • Important: To create or update a Paid plan, your organization's Stripe account must be connected and active in NeetoPay. If Stripe is not connected, you will only be able to save the plan as "Free."

Key Considerations

  • Stripe Connection: A connected Stripe account is mandatory for processing payments for "Paid" plans. If your Stripe account is disconnected, any existing paid subscriptions may be disabled, and you won't be able to create new paid plans or convert free plans to paid ones.

  • Simplicity of Free Plans: Free plans are straightforward. They don't involve payment options like installments or one-time charges, nor do they have setup fees.

  • Flexibility of Paid Plans: Paid plans offer more customization, allowing you to define how and when subscribers are billed, including the possibility of a setup fee.

  • Switching Between Types:

    • If you change a "Paid" plan to "Free," NeetoPay will remove its base fee, disable any setup fee, and replace its existing payment options with a single "Free" option.

    • If you change a "Free" plan to "Paid," you will need to configure a base price, currency, and at least one paid payment option.
