Available Payment Options

When you create a Paid Payment Plan in NeetoPay, "Payment Options" determine the different ways your subscribers can choose to pay for that plan. They offer flexibility in how the total price of your plan is structured and collected.

Note: This article focuses on configurable Payment Options for Paid Plans. For Free Plans, NeetoPay automatically sets up a single, non-configurable "Free" option, and subscribers do not go through a payment selection process.

Types of Payment Options for Paid Plans

NeetoPay supports two main types of configurable payment options for your paid plans:

  1. One-Time Payment:

    • What it is: The subscriber pays the full base price of the payment plan (plus any applicable setup fee) in a single, upfront transaction.

    • When to use: Ideal for services or products that are fully delivered or accessed after a single payment, or for lifetime access models.

    • Configuration: You can enable or disable the one-time payment option. A plan can have at most one active "One-Time" payment option.

  2. Installment Payment:

    • What it is: The total base price of the payment plan is divided into multiple, smaller payments (installments) collected over a defined period.

    • When to use: Suitable for subscription services, courses spread over time, or higher-priced items where breaking down the cost makes it more accessible.

    • Configuration:

      • Enable/Disable: You can enable or disable the installment payment option.

      • Number of Installments: Specify the total number of payments the subscriber will make (minimum 2).

      • Billing Interval: Define how frequently each installment is charged (e.g., every month, every week, every year).

      • Note: Any setup fee configured on the plan will be added to the first installment only. Subsequent installments will be for the regular calculated installment amount.

    • A plan can have multiple distinct installment options (though the current UI primarily supports configuring one main installment structure per plan, advanced configurations might be possible via direct data management or future UI enhancements).

How to Configure Payment Options

When creating or editing a Paid Payment Plan in NeetoPay:

  1. Navigate to the "Payment Options" section within the Payment Plan builder. (This section is typically enabled when "Pricing Type" is set to "Paid").

  2. Enable/Disable Options:

    • You'll see toggles like "Allow One-time payment" and "Allow Installment based payment."

    • You must have at least one of these options enabled for a Paid Plan to be valid.

  3. Label Your Options:

    • Each payment option (both one-time and installment types, if you create multiple) will have a label. This is the text your subscribers will see when choosing how to pay (e.g., "Pay in Full," "Monthly Subscription," "6 Easy Payments").

    • If you don't provide a custom label, NeetoPay will often assign a default one (e.g., "One-time Payment," "Installment Payment").

  4. Configure Installment Details (if "Installment based payment" is enabled):

    • "The payment will be made in __ installments": Enter the total number of installments (e.g., 3, 6, 12).

    • "Installment charged every __": Select the billing frequency (e.g., Week, Month, Year) from the dropdown.

      • The system calculates the amount for each installment by dividing the plan's base price by the number of installments.

      • Important: The system ensures that the calculated amount per installment is above a minimum chargeable threshold (e.g., $0.50 USD) to comply with payment processor requirements.

How Subscribers See Payment Options

When a subscriber views your payment plan's public page (the EUI - End User Interface):

  • They will be presented with all the active Payment Options you have configured for that plan.

  • Each option will display its label and a breakdown of the cost, including:

    • Amount due today (which includes any setup fee for the first payment).

    • Recurring amount per installment (if applicable).

    • Total cost for that specific option.

    • Billing interval text (e.g., "Monthly," "Every 2 weeks").

  • The subscriber can then select their preferred way to pay and proceed.

Key Considerations

  • Active Status (is_active): Only payment options marked as "active" will be visible and selectable by subscribers. You can make an option inactive to temporarily hide it without deleting its configuration.

  • Paid Plans Requirement: These configurable payment options are only relevant for "Paid" Payment Plans. "Free" plans automatically have a single "Free" option.

  • One Active One-Time Option: A single payment plan can only have one active "One-Time" payment option at any given time.

  • Minimum One Active Option for Paid Plans: A paid plan must always have at least one active payment option (either a one-time or an installment structure).

  • Impact of Setup Fees: If a Setup Fee is enabled on the Payment Plan, it will be added to the amount due for the first payment of any chosen paid payment option (whether it's a one-time payment or the first installment of an installment plan).

By thoughtfully configuring these Payment Options, you can provide your subscribers with clear and flexible ways to purchase your offerings.
